Poison ivy

Poison Ivy has always been one of those characters that I think translates so well to a tattoo. She has such an immediate visual identity, but like a lot of comic book characters, you’ve also a lot of room to put your own spin on her, which is exactly what my client Em and I wanted to do with this piece.

Rather than going for a specific comic or animated version, the idea was to create something that you would recognise as Poison Ivy while still being completely custom. I leaned into my anime inspired style here, but with a mix of new-school that I’ve always loved.

Character tattoos are always some of my favourite pieces, especially when I get the chance to reimagine an iconic character rather than simply replicate them. This Poison Ivy piece definitely pushed my work in a direction I want to continue exploring.
